The best way to get healthy and stay healthy is to give your body the healthiest food it needs.
These foods provide optimal health, energy, ideal weight, and help prevent disease.
The foundation of any healthy diet are fruit and vegetables (emphasis on vegetables). If you think about it, most diets recommend more servings of fruit and vegetables than any other food group.
Fruit and vegetables provide us with critically essential vitamins, minerals, and phytochemicals (plant chemicals) that naturally occur in nature.
So what happens when fruit and vegetables have been grown with herbicides and pesticides? Are they still healthy to eat?
Well, yes and no.
Eating fruit and vegetables grown with herbicides and pesticides are better than not eating any at all. HOWEVER, are there health risks?
Herbicides and pesticides are toxins used to kill off bugs and weeds so produce will grow. It is a problem farms have growing produce. But what is hard to digest are the ramifications humans might suffer by consuming these toxins.
So what is a person, who wants to eat healthy, do?
If you are able to buy all, or mostly organic, buy organic! It is an investment in you and your family’s health.
If you are not able to buy all organic, at least buy organic the foods on the ‘Dirty Dozen’ List. These are the foods most contaminated with toxin residue.
If you cannot afford to buy all 12 organic fruits and vegetables, at least buy the ones at the top of the list (as far down as you can afford).
This allows you to be in control of an important part of your diet.
Obviously, we don’t always have control over the quality of food we eat when we eat out or in other people’s homes. Feed your body the best food you can, and take control when you have it. Yours is the only body you get, so take care of it.
“If you don’t take care of your body, where else are you going to live?”
